Introducing the Australian Registered Nurse Training Program (ARNTP)
Manju Sebastian: I am a qualified nurse back home in my country and this program really helps me identify what are the strategies here to work in Australia; really get [ ] rights with the situation here and to work safely here as a qualified nurse.
Ajeesh Abraham: I was working in [ ] unit [ ] inIndia. And this program refreshes my knowledge.
Nisha Binu: ARNTP is a good choice for me because I am a registered nurse fromIndia and I would like to work here as a registered nurse inAustralia also.
What does the ARNTP involve?
Ajeesh Abraham: For the program, it actually involves four main parts such as lecture, tutorial, lab and placements.
Manju Sebastian: The program is really a stress-free one, a very friendly one. Along with that, they are providing the skills, the knowledge and ability to work safely in this country. We are actually provided with an eight-week of medical placements. Then we can go out and understand what’s happening in other hospitals. By this way, we never feel new when we are going out to work and it’s really a stress relief for us
Nisha Binu: And we are divided into student learning groups and I think it’s great because we are mingling with different cultures. We have good friends from different countries and I really enjoyed.
Manju Sebastian: I can make lot of friends in my student learning groups. We can share our knowledge. If someone feels difficulty in the study or ought not to understand something, the student learning groups will really help to sort out the problems.
Describe the quality of the teaching staff at UniSA?
Ajeesh Abraham: The staffs here are really excellent. They are really friendly. We can approach them at anytime with any questions and queries.
Nisha Binu: They are still working in the hospital and they are teaching us also. So they have good connection with the hospital environment as well as the teaching environment. So I think it’s great because we really are connected with hospital environment.
What are facilities like at UniSA?
Ajeesh Abraham: We have got a very excellent clinical lab here with mannequins which really set up with real life hospital situations. We can work on as much time as we can until we are really thorough and confident in our procedure. There are

Nisha Binu: We have different facilities like the teaching and learning unit. If we have to submit some assignments or any help, they are free to give the support. They will help us in our study and research. They will help us in writing our resumes. They are preparing us to attend interviews and how to continue with our studies.
Ajeesh Abraham: They are providing us with very good computer pool in each floor. There is a 24 hour computer access. Many things we are learning in online and they really help us.
Manju Sebastian: I think the library is one of the things. We have plenty of books available.
What do you enjoy most abut the UniSA environment?
Ajeesh Abraham: UniSA provides us with the safe environment here. In the orientation period, they said they will really guide us about the police as well as the emegency services.
Nisha Binu:The city campus is really safe and secured . We do have a security office here and security customs will go around. If you have something lost or if you have some problems, they will help us so we really feel safe and secure here.
Ajeesh Abraham: UniSA is actually one of the famous universities inAustralia. This is really a friendly atmosphere here.
What do you like about Adelaide?
Nisha Binu: I would really feelAdelaide like my home because it is really calm and quiet. The people here are really friendly, they are warm and supporting. So I really love [ ]
Manju Sebastian: It is really accessible to transport. There is free service at time.
[ ] near to the campus.
Ajeesh Abraham: Our courses five days – that’s Monday to Friday. The weekends are really free. There’s a lot of time to go to the shopping malls around and also it’s really affordable. Students can get good things from there as well.
What are your plans after graduating from the ARNTP?
Ajeesh Abraham: At the end of the program, I would like to work as a registered nurse inAdelaide and help the society here. Also, to update my knowledge with the international standard.
Would you encourage other international students to undertake the ARNTP?
Nisha Binu: I have good friends. They are working inAustralia and inAdelaide also in different hospitals. I think this is the best program for the international students because we are well cared for.
Manju Sebastian: I recommend all the people to come to study at UniSA especially the ARNTP.
Ajeesh Abraham: We are enjoying each and every moment we are here.
