NARRATOR: ARNTP Program is a course designed for both international and local nurses who would want to pursue a rare promising career here in Australia.
FEMALE NURSE1: The ARNTP program is a great choice for me because I’m educated overseas and I’m also working as nurse in the Philippines. If I wanted a career here in Australia, I have to take this program so that it can prepare for the registration.
WELLA: I want to study ARNTP in UniUSA because it’s concise and it only takes four months and it’s very enjoyable.
MALE NURSE: It has three basic focuses. First, it would orient students to the law and ethics here in Australia. Second, we have this state-of-the-art skills lab wherein we have the opportunity to practice actual hospital setting in the laboratory. And lastly, the most exciting part is that we are given the opportunity for an eight-week exposure in the actual hospital setting.
WELLA: The program is really giving me so much fun because we get to practice in the skills lab in which they have really good facilities. We get to play with the mannequins they got. The coughing is just awesome.
FEMALE NURSE1: The mannequins are simulated. Sometimes, to go on arrest, so we can practice our CPRN to mannequins.
MALE NURSE: Our skills labs are so real that they simplified the actual work set-up here in Australia. So that’s why I am confident that once we graduate, we can encounter that very same simulation of health care setting.
WELLA: The university itself is full-packed with all the support system that we need as an international student.
MALE NURSE: We have a very supportive staff who are willing to understand our requirements and they are always ready to help, almost 24 by 7 in going as to this program.
FEMALE NURSE2 : The mentors are approachable. So whatever problems we have, whatever papers, whatever problems we have with our class, we can approach them anytime.
MALE NURSE: If we are having hard time with our assignments so we can go to the learning and teaching unit. Staff there will assist us step by step on how to let’s say complete our assignments.
FEMALE NURSE 3: UniSA have given us a certain links and agencies that we can go to so that we can prepare ourselves for our next step after the program which is the employment stage.
WELLA: We get to hang out into good cafeterias and at the same time study into a very good library facility that they have.
FEMALE NURSE1: We also have the computer pools. These are important. We can use the computer pools to do researches and these are very accessible. Each building has a different computer pool.
FEMALE NURSE3: If we need to print out anything or photocopy f some documents then we get to have it for free.
MALE NURSE: Each and every student has a my UniSA account in the internet. So once we are in the home, we can access them and read our assignments , update ourselves with what we will be doing by tomorrow.
FEMALE NURSE1: We can also post some discussions and we can discuss whatever topics we want with our mentors, with our classmates.
WELLA: The UniSA environment is so great. I have a feel of like an ancient feel because of the buildings around me, the architecture.
FEMALE NURSE3 : We can stay late in the campus. There’s a security officer we can go to and they can just bring us to the safest bus stop. So, the security of the student is very much important to the campus.
WELLA: I get to meet other people like Indians, Nepalese and also Filipinos and I learn a lot from them.
FEMALE NURSE 2: When we will be working in the future as nurses we will be meeting people from diverse countries. So while we have our experience here in UniSA we learn to build different people from different cultures.
MALE NURSE: So, what’s good with Adelaide is that its proximity to all activity centers. If you are in the school and after school, you can go to around mall in just a five-minute walk. And if you would want to let’s say really relax, go to a beach. All you have to do is one fun ride and you’re there.
FEMALE NURSE2: One of the best beaches probably in whole Australia. It’s free, it’s accessible. The transportation is really really good. We get free ride around the city with the 99 C-bus and we also get free ride around the city as well.
FEMALE NURSE3: We won’t be missing with food in our hometown because we have the central market where we can purchase different foods and different vegetables that are also available or same with what we had back home.
FEMALE NURSE 2: In terms of accommodation, we didn’t have any hard time with it because there are a lot of student accommodations available in Adelaide and I’m currently residing in student accommodation. It’s fifteen-minute ride away from school. It’s reasonably priced for us students.
MALE NURSE: After graduating in ARNTP program, we would want to have a stable job. I hope that we can catch up with growth with the health care system in Australia.
WELLA: Hopefully in the future my qualifications will bring me to a brighter career path as a nurse here in Australia. Most probably in the hospitals, can be a clinical nurse or a nurse manager. It would be something like that that I am looking forward to.
FEMALE NURSE1: For Filipinos like me who plan to have a career here in Australia, I recommend that they take the ARNTP progam because it will prepare them for their future career here in Australia as a registered nurse.
MALE NURSE: If you are the one who would want to have a rare challenging career in Australia, go fro ARNTP.
